With our iPad app flying off the virtual shelves like the need-to-have business app it is, we’ve had a strong uptick of people joining our live daily demo which gives us great insight to the types of ways that people use Fuze Meeting. And we thought Grandpa Grumpy was just so very interesting!

Jay Norman AKA Grandpa Grumpy designs beautiful children’s books. (You can check them out here.) He actually started designing them because with him in the US and his family in the UK, his grandsons don’t see much of their (self proclaimed) grumpy grandpa…so he designs books to let them know he’s thinking about them.

And… he’s excited that Fuze Meeting HD capabilities will allow him to collaborate online with other artists, designers and authors to share images and ideas!

We’re thrilled to do our part to help Grandpa Grumpy reach his overseas family and help launch his budding business.

Well, you know by now that we’re the only ones around who allow you to host a meeting from your iPad, but meetings have one host…and lots of attendees! So of course, we don’t want to leave them out of the mix, so we’ve put together a little tutorial that will show you how to get IN to a meeting that you’re NOT hosting.

Quick product update for all y’all. We’ve added 11 new local dial in numbers so NOW…you can meet with people in 18 countries and they will be able to attend the meeting without paying international fees. (But don’t forget, we NEVER have fees when they dial in using SKYPE.)

How it works:

Say you (let’s just assume you live in the US…) have a meeting with a potentially awesome new client in Italy. Let’s call him Giovanni.

Until now, it has been mighty expensive for Giovanni to call in to the Fuze Meeting line because first he had to call the US…which costs him precious Euros.

So now…Fuze Meeting offers Giovanni a local dial-in number IN Italy. So when Giovanni picks up the phone, he calls a local number which we connect into to your Fuze Meeting conference line. Giovanni loves what you have to say, becomes your new favorite client and you say “Wow. I’m sure glad Fuze Meeting has such a great international dialing plan!”

And here’s the updated country list with local dial in numbers:

Then we’ve got another solution!

We learned that some of our customers were actually using Fuze Meeting to transfer giant files before they shared them in a Fuze Meeting. Which…made us realize…hey, we bet most people don’t know that they can use Fuze Meeting as an alternative to something like YouSendIt.

So…here’s a way to get a great perk out of a product you’re already (or should be) using!

This one’s not about web conferencing. Sorry. I know you were dying for new tips and tricks on how to hijack your Fuze Meeting account to transfer large files for free (it’s coming!).

But this post is about people. As you know, a company is about the people – and today this company really knocked it out of the park.

Our web designer is leaving to move back home with his family in Colorado. (Yes, we’re hiring) And he came by to say farewell one last time. And you know what, in under an hour, our office came together and pulled off something remarkable. We’d taken up a collection for (quite a nice) gift, spun a card around the office and MacGyver’ed a full gift wrap out of 2 sq. feet of wrapping paper.

And what did it take? Just a little efficiency and a passion to get something done.  Granted, I can think of *something else* that helps you be more efficiency. But I promised this post wasn’t about online meetings or the crazy amounts of time you could save with a little Fuze Meeting in your life.

But no, no. This one’s about the people. And hey, don’t you want to work with a company who can pull it together in 45 minutes to give someone a fabulous send off?

We thought so.

The iPad launch is so close, we can TASTE it! Not surprisingly, it tastes a lot like success…and well spiced chicken.

But mostly success.

Today, our Product Guy, Community Manager and Jackie of all Trades (this time – hand model) went down to Transvideo Studios in Mountain View to film our demo video for the new app! I mean…just the music foreshadows how INTENSE and POWERFUL our new app is going to be.

Since we recently launched the first ever web conferencing app for the Android, there’ve been some articles and such around the web, harking on the wonderment of mobile meetings. That said, AT&T, Verizon and Sprint all act a little differently when hosting a Fuze Meeting and we here at FM just wanted to make sure we passed off hints for your mobile meetings.

Let’s unpack this, shall we?

Miraculously, AT&T comes out the current winner on this one since their technology supports simultaneous voice and data transfer. This means that you are able to use data transfer (like the internet or Fuze Meeting) while being on a phone call.

Conversely…The CDMA technology used in Verizon and Sprint phones prohibits simultaneous data and voice streaming. Which means no matter how talented our engineers are (and trust me they are TALENTED), you just cannot be on a call and in a Fuze Meeting while the meeting is grabbing data from satellite.

There is a way around it!

As long as you’re around WiFi. You can actually log into the data stream via your WiFi connection. So, in order to participate in the visual AND audio parts of a meeting from your Verizon or Sprint phone, enable WiFi and Fuze Meeting will use your WiFi connectivity to transfer meeting data while you are on the voice bridge. If you do not have WiFi coverage available, or it is interrupted, then only one feature can be supported, and you will be disconnected from the web portion of the meeting – leaving you only on the call.
WAIT THERE’S MORE! VoIP (which will let you transfer audio AS data and will cut out the telephone portion all together) will be coming to your iPhone and Android phones later this year…thus solving the entire matter completely!

But until then – we realize you have meetings, you have requirements, you’ve got important things to talk about and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to get what you need. Hope this was helpful and let us know if you have any questions.
