Webinar, Webcast, Online meeting, Web conference – Which is which!?!

As pointed out by BNET, we are in an industry that doesn’t really have a well-defined vocabulary.
You’re going to talk to your team or your whole company with PowerPoint, video, maybe there’s a handout. Should you use a webinar? Webcast? …Choosing the right tool can be overwhelming.
So, what does Fuze Meeting offer? When will you have to go to another source? Without further ado, here’s a quick glossary recap and a note about what you can do with Fuze Meeting!
Web conference or online meeting (BNET also includes web meeting/webmeeting in this camp)– Hosts and attendees collaborate with the help of the internet. All attendees can share their computer desktops, collaborate/annotate on uploaded media, or collaborate on a whiteboard or notepad. (more…)

Mendocino Film Festival uses Fuze Meeting to connect a director with his audience!
At FuzeBox, we pride ourselves in being the web conferencing solution to a myriad of different types of businesses and professions – everyone from after school tutors to board members of Fortune 50 companies utilize our solution for its ease of use and feature rich platform, but when the Mendocino Film Festival, one the fastest growing festivals of its kind, came calling we knew we were in for a new type of challenge.
Recently the Director of the Mendocino Film Festival, Michael Fox, reached out to us with a dilemma: the director/lead actor of the award-winning movie The Athlete AKA Atletu/Atleten (about Ethiopian marathon runner Abebe Bilkia) was scheduled to attend the festival and host a Q&A session after his screening. However, he was now being called to NYC to accept yet another award for his astonishing film.
The Director, Rasselas Lakew was distraught! How could he be in two places at once to promote his film? (Enter Fuze Meeting, stage left)
With only days before the scheduled Q&A session between the Director and his adoring Mendocino fan base – the Fuze Meeting Team sprang into action! By the following afternoon we had sent Rasselas an iPad2 and had him trained on our app!
And…it went swimmingly! Check out this picture of Rasselas as he accepted the award for best narrative feature, from 3,011 miles away!

And how did they think it went? Well, we’ll let them speak for themselves!
“Fuze Meeting forged a connection between the filmmaker and the audience for an intimate Q&A session in a unique and authentic way,” declared Michael Fox, Executive Director of the Mendocino Film Festival.
“The Video conference I had via Fuze was extremely user friendly…it was easy to set up and it’s connection was fast and effective. The whole experience was phenomenal” said Lakew Rasselas director of The Athlete.
We love our jobs here at FuzeBox and getting to hear feedback like that from a new user makes the race to be the best in web conferencing that much more rewarding!

Why Telepresence is a Corporate Jet
Perhaps you’ve seen the news … we’ve just launched a new product: Fuze Telepresence Connect! If you’re familiar with telepresence systems, you probably see what a game changer this is. BUT…if this whole telepresence idea is new to you, then let’s see if we can clear things up…
Picture a corporate jet. Really fancy, pretty much only for executives, it’s expensive to buy, it requires a whole team to operate, it costs a lot just to maintain in a static state, and enormously more if you want to actually use the plane as a plane and turn the thing on. It really is THE ultimate flight experience, but most of the time…it just sits there on a tarmac – not being used and gobbling up money.
Fuze Telepresence Connect
Maybe you’ve seen the news today, but FuzeBox is out to revolutionize the telepresence industry with our newest launch, Fuze Telepresence Connect. Check out this video, and we’ll be updating the blog with more info shortly!

You guys really care about hold music!
We couldn’t stand it any longer! We held a poll, and we had over 200 people vote over the past couple of days. “Ambient” was such a runaway favorite that we just pulled the trigger! (When you know you’ve got a winner, why wait?!?!) Congrats to those who recognized “Smooth” as the outgoing hold music that we’ve had for about a year…you’ve been paying attention!

So, one more time – feel free to jam out to “Ambient” from our last post – or just start your meeting a little earlier and sit back and enjoy the smooth grooves.
We REALLY appreciated all the comments about our hold music, so thanks for the feedback everyone!
