Here’s a little treat for our PC users: our new Scene Manager allows you more control over your video feeds.

NOW when you fire up your video conferencing, you can drag and drop the individual video feeds to rearrange them!

What does this mean? Well check it out! Two quick drag and drops, and it’s easy to bring Floyd and Kristen to the headlining video positions.

And, if you pop-out the video scene manager into its own window (How do I do this?) you can also select and control the arrangement of your participants video feeds.

An added perk:  With our updated scene manager, we will now support both DirectX instead of OpenGL which helps with PC compatibility! (Macs already support open GL.)

Just a reminder – right now it’s only available on PC’s but it’s coming to Macs shortly!

1. OSX Lion does not include Java by default so you’ll need to download and install it here first:  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1421. If you had a beta version of Lion, you will need to reinstall Java or reinstall Chrome (comes with Java)
2. If you do not want to use Java, you may manually install the Fuze Meeting Application directly (without java) here:  https://www.fuzemeeting.com/downloads/Fuze_Meeting.dmg

About our instillation process. Fenton says:

In my experience, Fuze Meeting Pro required more client-side cooperation than the other solutions. As with GoToMeeting, users are requested to install an application to participate, though Fuze asks users to take a more active role and click through a DMG installer.

We all use a java launch method (no install) but will revert to MSI or DMG install if Java is blocked. This is the exact same processed used by GoTo Meeting, etc. Generally, our installations are hassle-free and one click.

Maybe you’ve seen the news today, but FuzeBox is out to revolutionize the telepresence industry with our newest launch, Fuze Telepresence Connect. Check out this video, and we’ll be updating the blog with more info shortly!

Last weekend we co-ran a contest with TechCrunch where entrants had to comment on what the future of teleconferencing looks like. You can read about our winner’s comment on our previous post!

So. What do you see in the future? Well, the 2500+ responses (YES we read them all) fit into a few main camps.

1. 3D and Holograms

HD flawless video and audio isn’t enough for most of you! The most popular comment was that video conferencing would follow the visual trend of TV and movies and be decidedly 3D.

2. Like the movies.

Specifically, there were quite a few mentions of The Matrix and Star Wars! Many of you expect your iPhone to project a full body image a-la-R2D2. And…quite a few of you mentioned that video conferencing services would be able to plug into the back of your neck and transport you to another reality where you could hold a video conference with Neo. *This* Fuze Meeting marketing team is a little concerned about the Facebook comments that would follow a release titled, “Fuze Meeting, now plugging into the back of necks everywhere.”

3. Like video games.

Wow. You lot are pretty influenced by the media that surrounds you! Quite a few of you suggested that avatars would do the video conferencing for you and referenced Second Life, while many of you also mentioned Microsoft Kinect as a precursor to tomorrow’s video conferences.

4. Like now…but more mobile, more reliable, better audio, flawless video, seamless interoperability, and more affordable pricing.

Thank you so much to everyone who entered! We’ll get right to work on #4 and then we’ll have an all-hands meeting to decide whether to go the Star Wars or Matrix route.

As we continue to develop products, it’s amazing to see how quickly the future appears to be running towards us. We love Jerry’s take on personalization and new ways to command attention. And though we had nothing to do with choosing the winner (The CrunchGear editing team chose), we’re so glad he’s already familiar with our product!
