An Interview with myself: Patrick Moran, VP Marketing at Fuze Meeting

Okay, this might be extremely lame, but I am going to try to conduct an interview with myself.  I am the new VP of Marketing here at Fuze Meeting, and as I look at this blank blog this evening my ego jumped in and said “hey, why not interview yourself!”.  Here it goes.

Who are you?

Patrick Moran.  I’ve been blessed with a fun, exciting career in marketing.  I’ve been VP and Founder of an online marketplace for consumer local and long distance phone service in the 90′s, I’ve run marketing for a couple of collaboration companies (Intranets.com, WebEx, Cisco), and CMO for a social software company called Mzinga in Boston.  I’m also known as “Dad” for two 5 year old twins, a boy and a girl.  They rock, and are sitting next to me while I conduct my interview.

What do you do for Fuze Meeting?
I run marketing, which is basically the commercial “front end” for the business.  I am charged with communicating our story and vision, acquiring customers, and generating revenue.  I plan to use a mix of traditional, online and social tactics to both LISTEN to the market as well as communicate WITH the market and our customers.  I think I have one of the best gigs in silicon valley.  Don’t get me wrong – it is not easy, but it is fun working with smart people, and these people are SMART.

Why will Fuze Meeting win?
Best Technology. Best Team. Best Approach.  This blog will share more and more about all three.   Stay tuned!

What’s your favorite place on the web?
Besides Fuze Meeting, I would say I am still a bit of a Facebook and Twitter junkie.  I know I am not alone with my obsessions, but I am so fascinated with the pace of information exchange that happens on the social web.  And it is just the beginning.

Who do you follow on Twitter?
I follow @aaronstrout, @marketingprofs (Ann Handley), @fuzemeeting, @jowyang, @mashable, @zappos, and 2,000 other people I find interesting.

What is wrong with the web today?
Friction.  We have too much friction in between us.  Logins, asynchronous stuff, keyboards, bit rates… The walls are coming down thanks to companies like Fuze Meeting, so I am delighted to bring our real-time web meeting tools to market.  Meeting online shouldn’t be a chore.  It should be as easy as… say… typing 140 characters on twitter.
